It is with great sadness that we write to inform you that Andrew Dales died, peacefully in his sleep at home, in the early hours of last Friday morning after a long and brave fight against illness.
Andy played for Worthing Rugby Club from the early 1960s to well into the 1970s and formed a brilliant second row partnership with Warwick Smales. He was a very athletic forward and excelled at both 15-a-sides and Sevens. For many years he was on the club’s committee, in particular as Social Secretary.
He was a plantsman and horticulturalist by profession running the business in the Lyminster area started by his father, who played for the club many years earlier.
Andy’s funeral, a burial, is to be held at the Lyminster Parish Church, St Mary Magdelene, on Monday 20th January 2020 at 1030 hrs, and afterwards at the Cathedral Centre, Arundel – just past the Cathedral and the St Mary’s Gate pub on the left going out of Arundel towards Whiteways.
He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Jackie, and family at this very sad time.
