Game six saw Raiders on the road again, this time in a very wet Canterbury. Harry Forrest returned to the team after injury and George Hammond made his debut on the bench. With Kiba Richards unavailable Harrison Sims started in the centre.

The day started with light rain which gradually got worse as kick off time grew near. Raiders kicked off playing down the slope.

The game was very stop start with many handling errors by both sides. The early exchanges were pretty even until after a good attacking phase by Raiders, the home side conceded a penalty and Matt McLean took the three points. 0-3 after 15 minutes.

On a day like this errors can be decisive in determining the outcome and so it was that Canterbury capitalised twice in the half and took a 14-3 lead. Shortly before half time Raiders almost scored after an excellent break out of defence by Matt Walsh but were eventually thwarted by the home sides defence.

Raiders played up the slope in the second half. There was no further score for the first fifteen minutes until Matt McLean made a clean break through the Canterbury defence resulting in a scrum to Raiders near the try line. From the scrum Liam Perkins went over for a try and Matt McLean converted. (14-10)

Raiders created chances but for a variety of reasons couldn’t turn any of them into points. The game was evenly balanced.

The crucial score of the game unfortunately went to the home side giving them a 21-10 lead.

The final minutes of the game saw Raiders putting constant pressure on the home defence deep in their twenty two metre area, but try as they did they could not achieve the score that could have gained them a bonus point.

A disappointing result in awful conditions. Raiders played well enough to at least earn a bonus point for their effort.

Although an error strewn game the visitors produced positive performances all over the pitch. The scrum and lineout worked well and the backs looked dangerous when they attacked with the ball in hand.

Thanks to the supporters who made the journey and endured the horrible weather conditions.
