Although we remain uncertain when matches will return to Roundstone Lane we continue to be pro-active and plan for the season ahead. With this in mind we have the pleasure of announcing some additions to the rugby coaching framework……
– Former player Jack Emmerson returns to the club in a Coaching role within the Raiders Squad. Jack is Head of Rugby at Hurstpierpoint College and is a RFU Level 3 coach. Jack has developed his coaching through school, local club rugby, county age group and as a Lead Coach for Harlequins DPP. Jack will bring some a fresh pair of eyes and ideas to the Raiders coaching set up.
– Experienced coach and club man Jon Mills will be stepping into the role of Transition Coach. Jon is a Senior Lecturer at Chichester University and has a association with Worthing RFC which goes back almost 30 years and is well positioned to take on this key role within the club. Jon will work with our U16s Raiders Academy and Worthing Groups, Colts, Seniors and Raiders Coaches in overseeing the development of players as they move through age group rugby to Men’s rugby within Worthing RFC. Jon will continue to coach within the Raiders Academy Programme alongside his new responsibilities as Transition Coach within Worthing RFC.
– Within our growing Raiders Academy Programme we welcome Chris Baxter to the Coaching Team. Chris is a Level 3 Qualified Sports Performance Coach who’s worked previously in many roles including a Lead of Harlequins DPP, Oxford Rugby League, London Scottish, Ealing Trailfinders Academy Coach, various roles at London Broncos Rugby League club and also been an International age grade coach.
Rene Draude, Worthing DoR commented “Although the pathway to league rugby remains uncertain presently, I’m thrilled we have been able to welcome Jack, Jon and Chris into their new Coaching Roles within Worthing RFC.
It’s been a fantastic few weeks seeing sessions return to the Rugby Park at Roundstone Lane right across the broad from U11 Girls to our growing Senior Raiders Squad last night; all in line with the RFU and COVID19 frameworks. Its incredibly evident players of all groups are pleased to be back, working hard but very much enjoying themselves and having fun at Worthing RFC.
We very much continue to welcome new players across ALL our rugby playing groups”
New players please contact our director of rugby at DofR@worthingrfc.com for further information on joining Worthing RFC.
