The U14 A’s won today’s Waterfall fixture v Haywards Heath 31-0, following up on their most recent Waterfall fixture win of 37-0 win against Heathfield a couple of weeks ago.
These were excellent results that do not reflect the dominance that the squad had in both matches.
So far this season in the Waterfall Competition the A squad have so far scored 179 points (29 Tries, 17 Conversions) and conceded 19 points (3 Tries, 2 Conversions)
The squad today was:
Ben Brown, Ethan Clarke, Rhys Daly, Leo Ravaudet, Ben Tinker-Taylor, Harry Hancock, Tom Sunray-Jellis, Jack Doorey-Palmer, James May, Aiden Slade, Bruno Perry, Angus Mills, Alex Jefferiss, Rudy Goulty, Ben Richardson, Alex Suckling, Joe Thornton, Josh Poole.
Additions to the squad for the Heathfield game were: Raff Hollister, William Hill and Jack Noble
The U14’s parents would like to acknowledge the excellent work that Chris Brown, Fred Jefferiss and Terry Doorey-Palmer do to ensure the players are 100% prepared and focused for every game they play.
In the second match of the day the U14’s put out a mixed Development / A team to play Royal Grammar School from High Wycombe who were on tour.
RGS were a strong side and played some good rugby putting the Development side under pressure from the start, scoring 3 Tries in the first 10 minutes of the match.
The introduction of a few A squad players on a rotational basis helped to make it more of a match with their more robust tackling and game awareness however RGS were not to be denied and deservedly went on to win the match 45-5.
Congratualations to Aiden Howard for scoring the consolation Try for the Dev side.
For the Development squad players it was a step up from the teams they usually play against. They would have learnt a lot from playing a long side the A players and against strong well drilled opposition.
They will take the experience forward into their training sessions as they prepare for their remaining Waterfall fixtures of the season.
Thank you to Josh and Stuart Hunt who ran the Dev side today in the absence of Gavin.
We would like to take the opportunity of thanking RGS for the match and look forward to having an opportunity to play them again in the future.
