Congratulations to our Under 16s we are very pleased to be able to share the below message from Nick May.
I hope you are all well and keeping safe.
I just wanted to let you know that we received confirmation from Sussex RFU this morning that we are Sussex Champions again…
Our A’s won all of their matches this season, scoring 4 or more tries in every game and not letting the opposition get either a Losing Bonus Point or Try Bonus Point.
The A squad has now not been beaten for a couple of years across league, cup and friendly matches.
Our B’s came mid-table in League 2 (W2, L2).
A great achievement considering they were playing against others clubs ‘A’ sides.
A summary of our age groups achievements over the years:
U9 Sussex Champions
U10 Sussex Champions
U11 Land Rover Premiership Cup winners (@Wasps)
U12 Land Rover premiership Cup winners (@ Saracens)
U13 Sussex Waterfall competition winners
U14 Sussex Waterfall competition winners
U15 Sussex League Champions and Cup winners
U16 Sussex League Champions (No cup competition due to Covid-19)
All the players and coaches can be massively proud of what they have achieved together as a squad over the many years they have been together.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the coaches who have been involved with the age group since they started out in the U5’s in 2009.
Chris and Fred:
who coached the boys through the entire Mini’s and Juniors.
Terry, Andy TT, Stuart and Gavin:
who stuck at it for several years, either from the start of U5’s but then found in later years that the players had outgrown them and were being outpaced, and those who joined us a couple of years into the journey and have continued right to the very end of this last season of Junior Rugby.
In addition we had Mike (Dingle) and Tom, both Raiders players who gave up some of their time to help with coaching the forwards.
Thank you to to Dennis and Andy for their excellent First Aid support, both at matches as well as during training sessions.
I would also like to thank Simon T, Chris P and Andy TT for the entertainment they provided while
attempting to keep up with play as linesmen…
On behalf of all of the players and coaches I would like to thank all of you for the support you have provided to the boys and the club as part of this fantastic age group.
Having got through Mini’s and Juniors together we are looking forward to the next step up in the boys rugby, Colts…
We hope that you will all be back for Colts once we get through the Covid-19 lockdown and we get the go-ahead to start to meet up and train again.
If any of you know that you will definitely be coming back, or know that you won’t be joining us again could you let me know as this will help us as we start to plan ahead for next season, in terms of squad sizes and identifying the competitions that we might want to enter, (County, National, etc)
