Only five games to go and this weekend saw Champions Elect, Rams, visiting Roundstone Lane. They have had an excellent season and look set to take their place in National One next season.

With Raiders now getting closer to the relegation zone this was clearly not the fixture they needed at this crucial stage of the season.

With several senior players still missing and the unavailability of Elliott Luke, Jack Lake, Jordan Gibson, Jack Lee, Ben Holt and Jon Whittall the squad was being stretched to its limits. Will Grief, Sam Cook, Michael Dingle, Ryan Maguire, Dave Winsor and Will Fowler (who was making his debut) were brought into the match day squad.

The game was dominated by Rams who scored their forth try after half an hour’s play, thus achieving their first goal of a bonus try. By half time they led by twenty nine points.

Half time score: Worthing Raiders 0 Rams 29

Raiders made a better job of things for twenty minutes of the second half preventing any further scores by the visitors.

Curtis Barnes got raiders on the score sheet with a try in the sixty second minute and Matt McLean converted but this was too little too late and Rams eased away to complete the victory.

Full time score: Worthing Raiders 7 Rams 53

The final four games for Raiders will be very difficult having to play two of the top five and the two teams either side of them in the league. They will need to play well, have a bit of good luck and will require all the support you can give at each of these matches.
