On Saturday Worthing Warriors travelled to Chichester RFC for a Charity Match organised to raise money for Make2ndscount a charity very close to their hearts …
The atmosphere and the weather was fantastic … The Warriors showed great ball retention from the off and quickly took the lead with a try from scrum half Jasmine Spalding
The opposition were strong in defence and following a quick turnover they made ground and evened the score with a try from their prop.
This put the warriors back into the attack and saw some outstanding running from Leanne Lampard , Lauren Owens and Saz Longhurst who consistently made good ground throughout the game. This Front foot attacking style gave the opportunity for 2 fantastic tries from new player for this season Millie Rowland followed by an excellent conversion from Abi Downham.
Half time score 22-5 to the warriors
As the 2nd half kicked off the warriors took a line out with a throw-in from new hooker Georgie Merrett and some excellent pod work by the forwards who quickly got the ball out to Vikki Eaton on the wing who scored her first try for the team!
The team maintained momentum with some strong forward work from Abi Bandtock and Margaret Sieniawska and set up Lucy Unstead for another fantastic try
With a final score of Worthing Warriors 32-19 Sussex Barbarians Head Coach Mike Page couldn’t be prouder!
With supporters making donations on the gate and a fantastic raffle the event raised £1,400. If you would like to add to the funds raised please click HERE we thank you in advance for your support.
The day really demonstrated the true nature of the sport and that there really is nothing better than being part of a rugby family
