Alf Scrimgour

It is with much sadness, we report the passing on Wednesday evening, peacefully at home, of former Club President, Alf Scrimgour.

Our thoughts are with wife Sue and sons Sam and Jon at this time.

Further details will be given once known of funeral arrangements.

Alf will be remembered by many from the Club’s Castle Road days and early years at The Rugby Park as the first team fly half. After his playing days he went on to be Club Chairman, President and organiser of the Sussex 7s and Worthing Mini Festival. In recent years Alf could often be seen in the crowd supporting Raiders on a Saturday afternoon.

A Middlesbrough supporter, Alf arrived in Worthing in the 70s and taught at Buckingham Middle School and later became deputy head at East Preston Junior School. During that time he organised numerous ski trips which led to him later leaving the teaching profession to work for the holiday firm Kuoni.

His wit and ability to give humorous after dinner speeches will be missed.
