Happy birthday – a date to remember…………..

With Worthing RFC having been formed on 10th September 1920 (some will tell us, that was the date it was reformed) we should celebrate the 98th anniversary of the Club’s formation. Let’s start this coming Saturday with a Raiders win at home to the always strong Cornish rivals, Redruth. Please get along to the Rugby Park, if you can, to cheer home the Raiders on their opening home league fixture of the season. Kick off is at 2 .p.m. Bring the family, friends and colleagues and enjoy the match day experience from 12 noon. A few places for the first of the season, pre match league lunch are still available if interested – contact the club office to book a place.

So having mentioned 10th September 1920 most will have worked out that we are now 2 years out, from the Club’s 100th Anniversary. We will be celebrating the occasion in style and nearer the time, we will announce a range of different events and activities during the 2020-21 season, marking the Club’s achievements through the years and to provide opportunities for the many thousands of people who have been members of the Club, during these years to share memories, to meet up with old friends, former team mates and Club members and to toast absent friends.

10th September 2020 falls on a Thursday. Please put the date in your diary and your social calendars now. Make all future arrangements and commitments around this date. Maybe even arrange your plans early, to enable you to be with us for the weekend that follows. We will arrange fixtures with the dates in mind and will ensure the Raiders are at home on 12th September 2020.

I would even suggest one starts making bookings for Hotels and accommodation if you are travelling some distance. We know we have many past members living overseas, so we know you will want to make arrangements as early as possible to ensure you are able to be with us.

10th September 2020 is only 2 years away and the clock is ticking!!
